AWC Alumna – Dibora Abrhe

Amani Sewing Academy – Workforce Development & Job Readiness

 

Dibora is originally from Ethiopia. She enrolled in Amani Women Center Sewing Academy (ASA) in the year 2021. After one year in the program, Dibora graduated in the fall of 2022. Each ASA graduate receives a certificate of completion and is gifted a brand-new Singer Heavy Duty sewing machine for their home business. Dibora was also trained on the Juki industrial machines.

Under AWC’s workforce development efforts and job-readiness initiative, Dibora was hired with one of the company’s that work with AWC as an industrial sewing machine operator and earns a livable wage of $18.00/hr. Her job is only 20 minutes from her home.

Dibora is married, has one daughter, and the family just bought their first home in Stone Mountain.
