Healing Together Through Sister Circles
A circle of women, a space to breathe
Amani Women Center’s Sister Circles are wellbeing workshops where women sit together, listen, share, and slowly discover they are not carrying their burdens alone. As part of our ongoing series, we partnered with The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) to deliver a wellbeing workshop on understanding trauma and its effects.
The session equipped participants with valuable insights and practical tools to support healing, resilience, and overall well-being. Understanding how trauma works, how it lives in the body and mind, and how it can be eased is itself a step toward recovery. When women have language for what they’ve experienced, they can begin to move through it with greater strength and self-compassion.
The workshop also highlighted the important role of our Amani Community Ambassadors (ACA) in fostering connection, peer support, and community wellbeing. As trusted voices within their own communities, ambassadors help carry the lessons of a single session far beyond the room, weaving peer support into the everyday fabric of community life.
Safe spaces, stronger communities
By creating safe spaces for learning, sharing, and mutual support, we continue to empower women and strengthen healthier, more resilient communities. Healing is rarely a solitary act. It happens in relationships and in the presence of others who listen without judgment and remind us that connection is its own kind of medicine.
That is the quiet power of Sister Circles, a reminder that when women gather in trust, resilience grows, and no one has to heal alone.
