Doris Mukangu, Founder and Executive Director of Amani Women Center and member of the steering committee of “Endfgmc Network” was honored with the Lisa C. Bruch Woman of the Year Award for her unwavering leadership and commitment to ending Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C).

Angela Peabody, Executive Director and Founder of GWPF, recognized and celebrated all awardees for their tireless efforts to protect women and girls from this human rights violation. In her remarks, Peabody emphasized that more than 200 million women and girls worldwide have undergone FGM (UNICEF, 2016), calling for continued advocacy and collaboration to end this practice in our lifetime.

The Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation, a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, stands for People Everywhere, All Created Equal. The Foundation leads advocacy and awareness campaigns to eliminate FGM/C and promote the rights, health, and dignity of women and girls around the world.
Amani Women Center proudly joins GWPF and global partners in advancing the movement to #EndFGM and empower women everywhere to live free from violence and harm.
