On this World Refugee Day 2025, Amani Women Center stands in solidarity with refugees around the globe—and especially with the courageous women and families who have found a new beginning through our doors.
This year’s theme, “Solidarity with Refugees.” speaks to the heart of our mission. At AWC, we see every day how strength rises from struggle. We serve women who have fled conflict, persecution, and unimaginable hardship—yet show unshakable resilience as they rebuild their lives. In our sewing rooms, classrooms, and support circles, we witness healing take shape and empowerment take root.
World Refugee Day is not just a moment to recognize displacement—it is a call to affirm dignity, embrace diversity, and invest in possibility. Refugees are not defined by what they’ve lost, but by the hope they carry, the cultures they enrich, and the futures they are determined to shape.
Today, we honor the stories of the women we serve—mothers, daughters, leaders, survivors—and we recommit to providing a safe, welcoming space where they can heal, thrive, and belong.

This theme highlights the importance of listening to refugees, involving them in decisions, and working together to create inclusive and supportive communities.
More specifically, this theme calls for:
- Centering refugee voices:
Sharing their stories, recognizing their strength, and understanding their diverse experiences. - Building inclusive communities:
Creating welcoming environments where refugees can connect, find opportunities, and contribute to society. - Working together for peace and solutions:
Advocating for conflict resolution, upholding the right to seek safety, and supporting sustainable futures for displaced populations. - Supporting those who stay and deliver:
Recognizing and supporting humanitarian workers who provide crucial aid to refugees in challenging circumstances.
